The wait is finally over! Renovations, funded in part by a grant from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, are now complete at the new and improved Colohatchee Dog Park in Wilton Manors, Florida. On Saturday, March 30, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. the City of Wilton Manors will celebrate the grand opening of the Colohatchee Dog Park (1975 NE 15th Avenue, Wilton Manors, FL 33305).
The park’s new features include expanded dog play areas for large and small dogs, as well as a pavilion, an eight-foot-wide walking trail, and an outdoor fitness zone. The grand opening will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony and light refreshments.
“Following positive feedback from community stakeholders we began the dog park renovation project in 2018,” said the City’s Leisure Services Director, Patrick Cann. “The new park layout will increase use of the green space that is now more welcoming and functional for all to enjoy.”
While visiting the Colohatchee Dog Park all dogs must be leashed when not in the dog play area (retractable leashes are not allowed). To ensure the safety of others, aggressive dogs are not permitted in the park and all dogs must have proof of current vaccinations. All guests are responsible for properly using the equipment and children attending the event must be supervised by an adult 18 years or older.
Starting Monday, April 8, 2019, Colohatchee Dog Park visitors must obtain an electric fob to enter the dog park. Wilton Manors residents are invited to visit the Hagen Park Community Center to apply for a fob.
