Meet the City Manager
The City ManagerJoseph Gallegos, City Manager
Joseph L. Gallegos, City Manager for the City of Wilton Manors, grew up in the South Florida city of Coral Gables, attending Christopher Columbus High School in the Westchester area of Miami. He graduated from the University of Florida in Gainesville in 1972, with a bachelors degree in political science, and a minor in education. Directly after graduating, he taught government for two years in a private high school and subsequently worked in management and finance in the automotive industry. After earning a master’s degree in public administration in 1981 from Florida International University in Miami, Mr. Gallegos was hired by the city manager in West Palm Beach as an assistant and contributed over several years in guiding that city through its extensive rebirth.

In 1996, Mr. Gallegos left West Palm Beach to manage the City of Palm Springs (population 12,500) in Palm Beach County. He became the city manager of Wilton Manors in April of 1999, and has been instrumental in working with the city commission to implement the many exciting things happening in the redevelopment of the “Island City.”

Mr. Gallegos served as president of the Florida City and County Management Association’s (FCCMA) from 2009-2010.
