Volunteers
*VIP* Volunteers In Policing
The Police Department instituted a program called “Volunteers In Police Service” (VIPs) in March 2007. VIPs contribute so much and help us a great deal, from fingerprinting the public, bookkeeping, Citizens on Patrol, coordinating special events such as Kiwanis Christmas In July, Kids Day, National Night Out against crime, and the list goes on and on… BUT most importantly they give us their time. The unit is supervised by Sgt. Chuck Howard and coordinated by PSA Kay McCammon. If you are interested in becoming part of our VIP Program, please contact Sgt. Howard at (954) 390-2160 or by email .

Citizens Police Academy (CPA)

The Wilton Manors Police Department offers an 8-week Citizens Police Academy (CPA) to residents, civic and government organization members, and non-residents (on a space available basis). The Citizens Police Academy is designed to foster an active partnership with the community. Well informed citizens, who have an awareness of the mission, resources, policies and services of their Police Department, are critical to the success of this partnership.

Many topics are addressed in the academy and include: Code and Compliance, Drug Enforcement / K9, Detective Bureau / Special Investigations, Accident Investigations, Policing, and much more. In addition to scheduled classes, a “ride along” with our Patrol Officers is made available to the attendees who are interested.

This is your opportunity to be involved in a dynamic, rewarding partnership with your Police Department. We always need your participation to ensure the success of the Citizens Police Academy.
