Technical Assistance Grant Program (TAG)
The purpose of the Technical Assistance Grant (TAG) program is to foster small business growth in the city by: (1) supporting capacity building through training in marketing, business operations, financial management (2) helping businesses safely operate and comply with COVID-19 rules and regulations through education and training.
The TAG program allows eligible small businesses in Wilton Manors to be reimbursed for up to $200 for expenses related to education and training provided by a qualified Economic Development Organization (EDO) or organization specializing in public health education. Funding for the TAG program is be based on a first come, first served basis and is limited to one (1) grant per eligible business.
To qualify for the grant, a small business located within the city limits must meet the following criteria:
- Be a for profit business
- Have a valid City of Wilton Manors Business Tax Receipt
- Have no more than 50 full-time employees at the time of application
- Have no outstanding city liens or open code violation cases at the time of application.
Each eligible business may receive up to $200 to cover the costs related to education and training provided by a qualified EDO or organization specializing in public health education. A qualified EDO is defined as a not for profit, professional, or trade association whose primary mission is to help foster economic growth by providing assistance, training, and other resources to small businesses. Qualified EDOs may include, but not limited to, SCORE Broward and the Small Business Development Center at FAU. An organization specializing in public health education may include a private or nonprofit entity providing COVID-19 operations and compliance trainings. As an example, a business may decide to complete the Healthy Business Pledge Training provided by Bioprep Solutions. Funding is provided on a first come, first served basis and is limited to one (1) grant per eligible business. All grants shall be issued on a reimbursement basis only. Applicants must receive approval prior to attending a particular training or course.
Approval and Reimbursement
The Technical Assistance Grant program is accepting applications on a first come, first served basis until funding is expended. Applications received under the TAG program will be reviewed and evaluated for compliance with eligibility requirements by the Economic Development Manager. Only businesses that submit complete applications and meet all the requirements would be considered for funding. Funding is disbursed only on a reimbursement basis following receipt of acceptable documentation and evidence of training/course completion. Education, training, and/or courses must be completed within 12 months of funding approval.
